Pleasantstone News

December 20, 2004 To our delight we received 2004 high score awards from the WPCSA for the Northwest region. North Forks Black Earl had tied for Champion section D stallions and his yearling daughter, Pleasantstone Blythe, (pictured with handler Trinalyn Davis) got third place for section D
fillies. They garnered these awards with only two Welsh shows.

December 1, 2004 Our 14 year old son, Abram’s high school team meets for the first day that teams may practice to ready riders to compete in at least two of the three District Competitions and work towards eligibility for the
State Championship meet in May.

September 17, 2004 Our only BIG horse Rhubarb the 16.2 hand
Shire/gypsy/Pinto sport horse gelding was sold to the wonderful Valistelicia
family from Scappose, Oregon. The two young daughters are in the vaulting
club and they had high hopes for Pleasantstone Rhubarb after he completed
his jumping and vaulting training. It takes a special temperament to become
a vaulting horse. In any case Rhubarb has the largest stall at Lake Oswega
Hunt Club and a huge pasture to play in at the Valistelicia home where he
will become a trusted member of the family. ( Pictured after some vaulting
training and with the darling Valistelicia girls). We are very happy that
Rhubarb has so much to do in his new home and a wonderful family to love
him.

Rhubarb (or Rhu) is Flying Star Vaulter's proud vaulting horse. He is a
seven-year-old Pinto-Arabian and Shire cross (imagine that). You'll notice
him as the white and black alpha gelding with one blue eye and one brown. He is a horse who wants to please and learns quickly. It won't be long before
he's carrying Forward Stride's Flying Star Vaulters to competitions in the
Northwest and eventually the National Championships
We get many nice letters from people whom have the opportunity to see Earl.

September 2002 A letter from fellow Welsh breeder after handling Black Earl
in showring.

"Hi Julie,

Well, are your feet touching the ground yet? I am still high from getting to
show such a beeeautiful stallion and all the way to Sup. Ch. Okay, girl,
better add that title to all his "stuff". I really enjoyed myself Saturday
and it was great to visit with friend, too. I hope my overbearing nature of
...tie him with 2 leadropes...do this...do that...didn't put you off too
much. You are very gracious and it's not that I know it all, though I might
have come off that way. I was at a show once where a stallion got loose and
there were dozens of people standing around with their ponies and KIDS
standing around with their ponies, and this little hormone maniac (an A
stallion, I recall) couldn't decide which mare he was going to breed first!!
So, it was more from fear that I suggested that. If Earl wanted to get
loose, he could have, no doubt about it. He is such a well-mannered guy. I
would love to have some pics of our venture, and would enjoy viewing your
video, as well. I will return it, of course.

Your son, Abram is such a nice young man. Some day HE will be the one
showing Earl. When I was in Wales, I saw several young men--15 and
16-ish--showing the big cob stallions. And they were not nearly as calm as
Earl. So I would just advise him at the next show, to watch people show and
see how they do it. He can then develop his own style. He did such a good
job with his little filly!

Do you have a website? I would like to visit it and have a friend, Rachel,
who owns N.F. Lord Persie, who would like to see more pics of Earl.

Again, so glad you called, Julie. And, when you are in the neighborhood, Oh,
by the way, Lei Broadstone mentioned she liked your filly you showed at the
EEWPS show? Is she for sale? Asking price?

Take care, Cindy

Hello Mahoney Family,
I recently saw your stallion referenced above in the Welsh Pony Yearbook. Heis very handsome. I know one of his dam's (Sydenham Morwydden) offspring -Nocturn's Supreme Beauty. I tried to buy her but her owners are not ready to sell. I would be interested in seeing pictures of his foals you are offering for sale and/or any foals you may have that are for sale as well. I have not seen Sydenham Morwydden, however I have seen 2 of her foals, North Fork Black Earl and Nocturn's Supreme Beauty and I have been very impressed with both. Thank you for your time,
Caroline Gauither
